The strap cutter is a tool (usually made of wood) widely used in leather work for cutting straps , especially in large pieces of leather (collar or half-collar). Convenient for making your own belts or bag straps.
ON WHAT LEATHER IS IT POSSIBLE TO USE THE STRAP CUTTER?
The strap cutter is mainly used to cut strips in thick leather (6 mm maximum thickness). We invite you to choose firm leathers (collar or croupon for example) because soft leather tends to relax.
Before starting the cut with the strip cutter, we recommend that you make a start (pay attention to the good side).
HOW TO USE A STRAP CUTTER?
Thanks to its graduated ruler and its cutter blade, this wooden tool will allow you to cut strips with a width between 3 mm and 10 cm. We advise you to use clamps or a "third hand" to hold the strip properly when cutting.
WHAT TO DO WHEN THE BLADE IS WORN?
Please remember to change the blade regularly in order to always have a clean cut (we offer spare blades for each type of strap cutter).
