This spring plate and screw allow you to replace the original parts of the " Hand Sewing Awl Pliers - Tandy Leather 3229-00 " if they are damaged.

After many uses, the spring of the 3229 clamp may become damaged and require replacement. The flexible spring tab (plate) is easily changed by unscrewing it with a flat screwdriver.
