This manufacturer is THE tool reference in the USA for people doing metal spinning in the Sheridan style.This wooden awl handle , set with a polished brass ring, has a very nice finish. Part of the handle is flat to ensure a good grip. This will allow you to take the tool always in the same way and will guarantee you a constant inclination of your seam. The thread and the tightening screw are made of stainless steel which will avoid any corrosion problem and will give your tools a maximum lifespan.
The awl handle is supplied with 2 chucks. These metal chucks are reversible and have a specific diameter at each end. Thus, you have 4 different diameters to adapt your awl blade. Most of the awl blades available on the market are compatible with this handle. Wooden handle (Cocobolo or Bocote depending on arrival)
Supplied with a high quality Barry King Tools diamond or diamond shaped awl blade for saddle stitching. These tools are also called pliers awls or diamond awls.
This blade is already sharpened in mirror polished quality, it is ready to drill. Of course, it will be necessary to maintain the sharpening by using a Strop after each use.
Installing the blade should be smooth. Choose the chuck best suited to your blade. Loosen the screw, push the blade into the chuck and then retighten. For a good maintenance of the blade, we advise you to use a 3/8" wrench to have a perfect tightening.
If you don't have this tool, an adjustable wrench or pliers will do the job.
