Description

VEGETABLE TANNED LEATHER STRAP

This natural backrest leather strap is made of NIAGARA leather from the Radermecker tannery. Niagara saddle leather is 100% natural leather, full grain unpressed, uncorrected, smooth dyed grain and flesh. This premium leather is fed to the heart in a tallow bath which is a historic know-how of the Radermecker tannery.
It is ideal for making saddlery, large belts, riding accessories, etc.

Animal: Cattle
Tanning: Vegetable
Range: Horseback riding - Niagara
Color: Natural
Finish: Suet
Grain: Smooth
Width: 30mm
Thickness: Between 3.5 and 4 mm
Origin: Belgium - Tannerie Radermecker

As this strap is made of unpressed, uncorrected full grain leather, slight signs of the animal's life may be apparent and are not considered defects. They contribute to the authentic appearance of the leather.

The backset is a leather made up of the collar and the croupon, which allows for long lengths of straps. (see diagram)

Niagara leather is nourished by immersion in a vat of tallow (a mixture of paraffin and beef fat), is called "tallow leather". This tallow bath gives the leather better water resistance, gives it nourishment over a long period and makes cutting and working with the leather easier. Suede leather is recommended for outdoor use.

Tallow allows for maintenance-free leather since the grease is constantly applied to the surface of the leather, giving it the necessary nourishment and an excellent patina. Thanks to this nourishment, Niagara saddle leather has advanced resistance in outdoor use, it will reject any external disturbance (water / saline environment). This saddle leather is therefore suitable for intensive use such as for the equestrian sector.

Uses of Natural Niagara Backrest Leather Strap:

The natural Niagara collar leather strap can be used for all leather goods, small leather goods and cutlery: belts, bag handles, bracelets, watch straps, collars for dogs and cats, etc. It is the leather most used for making belts thanks to its natural finish, its resistance to elongation and its nourishment allowing it to guarantee a long lifespan.
Since there is no dyeing, natural Niagara snare strap can be dyed.
The edges of Niagara saddle leather can be finished with edge dye.
Molding and marking (hot and cold) can be done with Niagara saddle leather.
Pushing work on our Niagara leather is not recommended, because with its food in a grease bath, the leather will return to its natural thickness, and the pushed patterns will fade over time.

Care tips for natural Niagara backset leather straps:

For the maintenance of Niagara saddle leather: thanks to the food in a tallow bath, the fat is impregnated throughout the thickness of the Niagara saddle leather, so there is no need for food over time. Food can be applied to the flower to ensure its oily appearance or accelerate the patina of the leather. This care of the flower ensures a longer lifespan. Our Niagara saddle leather will resist humidity. Just let them dry at room temperature for it to regain its appearance. Due to its food in a tallow bath (fat), on temperature shocks, a whitish film of rising paraffin can form. Just rub it.
