This metal shaper makes it possible to mark a line parallel to the edge of the vegetable tanned leather , either to make a decoration, or to make a line which serves as a guide to mark the location of the sewing holes.
Thanks to the screw on the side of the head, you choose the distance between the edge of the leather and the line made: up to 9 mm.
The handle is wooden.
This tool only works on vegetable tanned leather. On mineral tanned leathers, the marking will be less clear and will fade over time.
