Description
NETTING IRON WITH ADJUSTABLE GUIDE BETWEEN THE EDGE OF THE LEATHER AND THE NET
Add a groove, border or other decorative lines to leather with this leatherworker's fillet iron.
It has a guide so that the marking is parallel to the edge of the leather. This guide is adjustable with a wheel to adjust the space between the edge of the leather and the line made. You can thus mark a line up to 7 mm from the edge of the leather.
This tool has 2 possible uses depending on the tanning of your leather:
- Cold stamping technique (for vegetable tanned leather): in this case, this tool is used as a former.
- Hot stamping technique (for mineral tanned leather): first, you must heat your blade in a gas stove; this operation must be repeated regularly as the blade cools.
Dimensions :
- 3 net widths to choose from (thickness of the line made on the leather) : 0.5 mm, 1 mm or 1.5 mm
- Maximum tool length: 170 mm
The wooden handle has a flat bottom so you can place your tool upright when the blade is hot.
The appearance of the net on the leather depends on several parameters, such as the temperature of the tool, the speed of passage over the leather and the pressure exerted on the tool. It is recommended to carry out adjustment tests on scraps of the same leather before making it.
