Vegetable tanned leather is a quality leather that does not hide the traces of the animal's life and develops a patina over time. With this type of leather, you must carefully arrange the templates of your creations before cutting.

Characteristics of Niagara saddle leather:
Niagara leather is nourished by immersion in a vat of tallow (a mixture of paraffin and beef fat), and is called "tallow leather". This tallow bath gives the leather better resistance to water, provides it with nourishment over a long period of time and makes it easier to cut and work the leather. Tallow leather is recommended for outdoor use.
Tallow allows for maintenance-free leather since the fat is constantly applied to the surface of the leather, giving it the necessary nourishment and an excellent patina. Thanks to this nourishment, Niagara saddle leather has advanced resistance to outdoor use, it will reject any external disturbance (water / saline environment / animal perspiration). This saddle leather is therefore suitable for intensive use and for equestrian activities. The aniline finish allows the dyed leather to keep its natural appearance.
Embossing work on Niagara leather is not recommended, because with its nourishment in a grease bath, the leather will regain its natural thickness, and the embossed patterns will fade over time.
Niagara saddle leather care tips:
Thanks to the suet bath nourishment, the fat is impregnated throughout the thickness of the Niagara saddle leather, so there is no need for nourishment over time. Nourishment can be applied to the grain to ensure its greasy appearance or accelerate the patina of the leather. This care of the grain ensures a longer lifespan. Our Niagara saddle leather will resist humidity. Simply let it dry at room temperature for it to regain its appearance. Due to its suet bath nourishment (fats), on temperature shocks, a whitish film of paraffin rise can form. Simply rub it to make it disappear.
