FOCUS ON SIMPLIFIED LEATHER SEWING
This " hole " stitching technique of leather by hand makes this tutorial accessible to everyone. You can of course choose to make a "standard" saddle stitch.
SEE THE GUIDE >
1. CUT THE LEATHER PIECES
- Download the pattern and print it in real size.
- Cut out the pattern, leaving about 1 cm of margin at the edge of the different pieces.
- Tape (using masking tape to avoid damaging the leather) the pieces on the pieces of leather.
- Drill the holes with a 1.5 mm diameter cookie cutter and cut out the different parts with a cutter or rotary cutter.
2. WORK THE SLICES
Work the edges of the eyes, the nose, the ears of the cat and the interior rectangle provided for the zipper. Start by sanding the edges of the leather parts, then apply edge dye. Repeat the operation 2 to 3 times.
3. GLUE THE LEATHER PARTS
Glue the small parts of the face as well as the zipper to the places indicated on the pattern.
4. SEW THE PURSE
Sew the face of the cat.
- Cut the thread: generally equivalent to 4 or 5 times the length of the sewing line.
- Thread a needle through each end of the yarn.
- Sew by passing each needle one by one through each hole.
- Then tighten the point well.
Then sew the zipper to the leather strip.
In order to form a round shape, sew the two ends of the strip together. Then, sew the two leather circles edge to edge, wrong sides together with the tape. Use sewing pliers to position the leather pieces.
5. WORK THE SLICES
To finish, sand the edges of the purse then apply edge stain. Apply 2 or 3 coats if needed.
YOUR WALLET IS FINISHED!
You are now ready to sew the cat backpack!
