Angelus is THE reference for all sneaker customizers. This paint can also be used on leather goods, to draw a complete original creation or to create small touches of bright color that are difficult to achieve with classic dyes.
If the paints are stored properly in a room temperature place, they can be kept for up to 3 years.
Angelus is an American brand based in Los Angeles. It is recognized as the best brand of leather paint in the world. Angelus paint is very resistant to cracking, particularly thanks to the presence of silicone in its composition.
Find your happiness in our wide range of Angelus products:
Step One: Preparing the Shoe
Before customizing your pair of sneakers, you must prepare them to receive the first coats of paint and to do this you must clean them (even if they are new).
To clean your pair, we recommend using Easy Cleaner soap (sold alone or in a kit). Using the brush and soap, carefully clean your shoes. Take the microfiber towel and polish your shoes to make them shine. |
After having thoroughly cleaned your pair of leather sneakers, you must now apply the Angelus Deglazer . This product is essential because it will allow the paint to adhere well to the surface and last over time. This product is also used to degrease the leather in a lasting way. So apply the deglazer to the entire part you want to paint. Make sure to let the Angelus primer and stripper dry for at least 24 hours before painting. |
Step Two: Preparation and Application of Paint
Now it's time to prepare the paint that will be applied to your pair of shoes. Angelus paint is the most famous paint for customizing sneakers and leather accessories because its unique elastic texture allows excellent resistance to cracking.
It is possible to mix several paints to create the color you want . The neutral paint 'WZ720_004' can be used to lighten a color.
It is also possible to mix the paint with different additives:
- Thinner ( Angelus 2-Thin ): for airbrush paint use.
- Duller additive: which reduces the shine of the paint.
Application of paint for leather shoes:
- Take a brush and apply the paint, taking care to apply very thin coats to avoid the paint cracking when drying and creating lumps.
- We also have refillable markers for outlining, detailing and touch-ups.
- Let the paint dry well between 2 coats (between 10 and 25 minutes) and for the last coat, let it dry for 24 hours.
- Before applying the 2nd coat, clean the brush well to remove all the paint, we recommend Angelus brush cleaner to effectively clean your brushes.
- Repeat the steps and apply 3 to 4 coats maximum to obtain a good quality result.
The different Angelus paintings:
There are several ranges of Angelus paint for different effects: standard, pearlescent, neon, metallic and glitter.
Step Three: Applying the Finish
After applying Angelus paint, it is recommended to apply an Angelus finish to make the paint more resistant and to give an additional look to your customization.
Angelus finishes all give your paint a different look, ranging from Matte to High Gloss . Apply thin coats to dry paint using a small brush. Let dry between coats and apply 2-3 coats maximum depending on the product used.
After applying the final coat, let your pair of shoes or leather accessory rest for 24 hours.
We have two types of finishes: the "standard" (Acrylic) and the "reinforced" (4-Coat). For each of these finishes, we have 4 levels of gloss for Angelus paint.
Angelus paint is a good choice for painting leather, it is highly pigmented with a good quality acrylic resin that allows the leather to be colored well. The addition of silicone makes it flexible and will not crack over time. In addition, an anti-mold agent has been added to keep the color for a long time.
The paint also penetrates the leather very well, but the coloring is less vivid than what you can get with alcohol paints, but the advantage is that it will give a fairly natural color. As the paint is water-based, the drying time is a little longer than alcohol paint.
