This premium Havana leather is nourished to the core in a tallow bath which is a historic know-how of the Radermecker tannery.
It is ideal for making saddlery pieces, large belts, riding accessories, etc.

This strap being made of unpressed, uncorrected full grain leather, slight signs of life of the animal may be apparent and are not considered defects. They contribute to the authentic appearance of the leather.

The back is a leather made up of the collar and the butt, which allows for long strap lengths. (see diagram)

Niagara leather is nourished by immersion in a vat of tallow (a mixture of paraffin and beef fat), and is called "tallow leather". This tallow bath gives the leather better resistance to water, provides it with nourishment over a long period of time and makes it easier to cut and work the leather. Tallow leather is recommended for outdoor use.

Tallow allows for maintenance-free leather since the fat is constantly applied to the surface of the leather, giving it the necessary nourishment and an excellent patina. Thanks to this nourishment, Niagara saddle leather has advanced resistance to outdoor use, it will reject any external disturbance (water / saline environment). This saddle leather is therefore suitable for intensive use of wear as for the equestrian sector. The aniline finish allows the dyed leather to keep its natural appearance.

Uses of the stained Niagara backrest leather strap:

The Niagara dosset dyed leather strap can be used in leather goods, especially when you need long lengths of leather: belts, bag handles, bracelets, watch straps, dog and cat collars, etc.

It is the most popular leather for making belts thanks to its natural finish, its resistance to elongation and its nourishment allowing it to guarantee a long lifespan.
It can also be used for harness parts: halters, nets, harnesses, bridle reins, headstalls, cheekpieces, browbands, nosebands, lunges, throat latches, and straps.
The finishing of the edges of Niagara saddle leather can be done with edge dye.
Embossing our Niagara leather is not recommended, because with its nourishment in a grease bath, the leather will regain its natural thickness, and the embossed patterns will fade over time.

Care instructions for Niagara dosset dyed leather straps:
For the maintenance of Niagara saddle leather, thanks to the suet bath nourishment, the fat is impregnated over the entire thickness of the Niagara saddle leather, so there is no need for nourishment over time. Nourishment can be applied to the grain to ensure its greasy appearance or accelerate the patina of the leather. This care of the grain ensures a longer lifespan. Our Niagara saddle leather will resist humidity. Simply let it dry at room temperature for it to regain its appearance. Due to its suet bath nourishment (fats), on temperature shocks, a whitish film of paraffin rise can form. Simply rub it to make it disappear.
