DIY - Wooden and Leather Advent Calendar

THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT

To make the advent calendar, you will need:

• 6 wooden boards 3 cm wide and total length: 2.10 meters. The thickness of our boards is 1 cm. Think recovery! Length of each board:
  - 66cm
  - 50cm
  - 34cm
  - 25.5cm
  - 19cm
  - 12cm

• 24 pegs (hooks) to screw on 3x16 mm (costs about €3.50 - to buy in a DIY store).
• 24 leather purses with a diameter of 14.5 or 20 cm (here we have chosen purses with a diameter of 20 cm).
• 24 leather STAR cutouts - width 4 cm.
• 1 reel of 25 meters of round leather lace - diam 2 mm.
• 2 m of round leather lace - diam 4 mm.
• 24 T1 double-cap rivets as well as the set and installation tool.
• 1 punch to strike diam 2 mm.
• 1 silver pencil.
• 1 drill.
• 1 pair of scissors.

Total cost of the tutorial (excluding wood):

• €57.95 with purses of 14.5 cm in diameter
• €83.60 with purses of 20 cm in diameter

1. PREPARE THE TREE-SHAPED STRUCTURE

• Using a saw, cut your board into 6 lengths:

66cm
50cm
34cm
25.5cm
19cm
12cm

• Using a drill, drill the 2 ends of each board. 5mm diameter hole 2.5cm from each edge.
• Take the round lace 4 mm in diameter and tie a knot at one end. Then pass it through the hole in the first plank and tie a knot at 14 cm. Proceed in the same way for the other boards (make a knot every 14 cm). Leave 30 cm of lace for the "top of the tree".

2. INSTALL THE HOOKS - PITONS

With a drill, lightly drill (be careful not to cross the entire thickness) each wooden board according to the measurements indicated below. Then screw the 24 hooks.

66 cm board: drill 2 holes at each end 1 cm from the lace then 7 holes every 7.5 cm.
50 cm board: drill 2 holes at each end 1 cm from the lace then 3 holes every 11 cm.
34 cm board: drill 2 holes at each end 1 cm from the lace then 2 holes every 11 cm.
25.5 cm board: drill 2 holes at each end 2.5 cm from the lace then 1 hole in the center 12.75 cm from the edge.
19 cm board: make 2 holes 6 cm from each edge.
12 cm board: make 1 hole 6 cm from the edge.

3. MOUNT THE 24 LEATHER PURSES

To mount 1 purse, you need 80 cm of round leather lace - diam 2 mm. This lace will then be cut in 2 (40 cm).

4. PUT A HOLE IN THE STAR AND PURSE

Using cookie cutters or a punch punch: make a 2 mm hole on one of the arms of the star and on the purse.

5. ENTER THE NUMBER OF THE DAY

With the silver pencil, write the number of the day on the stars.

6. RIVETING THE STAR ON THE PURSE

With the appropriate set and installation tool, install the T1 double-cap rivet to attach the star to the purse.
