Give your leather creations a shiny edge with Columbus wax, the essential ally for a professional finish .
Made in Japan, this versatile wax, composed of 20 to 30% paraffin, is ideal for making leather edges shiny and for waxing sewing threads.

This solid wax is used as a final layer on the edges of the leather to smooth them, protect them against humidity and wear, give them shine and a soft feel.
It is used after applying a finishing eraser (e.g. Tokonole), an edge finish or a stain.
This wax gives a marbled effect: for an even coloring, we recommend applying a dye beforehand.

Columbus wax bar can also be used to wax sewing threads (polyester thread or linen thread for example) to facilitate sewing leather, give more strength to the thread and waterproof it.

Instructions for shiny leather edges :
- Sand the edge of the leather and remove the dust.
- Apply an edge finishing eraser or stain then rub briskly with a cloth or a smoother/burnisher to polish the edge.
- Rub the Columbus wax block vigorously on the edge then polish with a cloth.
It is also possible to apply the wax hot (with a wax spatula for an electric threading iron, for example). Once the wax has cooled, polish the edges with a cloth or burnisher.
- For optimal shine, lightly sand the edge with 1000 grit sandpaper and apply a second coat of Columbus wax.
- Do not apply other edge finishing products after waxing (this may impair adhesion).

Instructions for waxing sewing threads :
- Wedge the thread between your thumb and the block of wax.
- Slide the thread under tension to distribute the wax.
